Employee Screening – Is it Really Necessary?

Yes it is. Employee screening is necessary for the sole purpose of having the right people for the right job. An employer can have his employees screened thoroughly before they granted the chance of employment. They should also be screened from time to time during their lifetime in employment. There are several types of screenings that can be done frequently like the health screening. The following are the types of screening and the times that they can be conveniently done from different industries.

The Screening for Health

Employee-screening-For-CompaniesEvery employer has to screen their employees and know their health conditions before they are employed. This is because there are some health conditions that should not be allowed in certain areas. For example an employer should not allow an asthmatic individual to work at night in the cold or in dusty areas like in a factory boiler. An employer in the health industry should keep on checking the health status of their employees to ensure there is no contamination in the production of food. For example a person who has tuberculosis should not be allowed to handle food until they are given a clean bill of health by a professional doctor. People who handle food should have their health checked at regular intervals. Health professionals should also ensure that they handle patients with care so that they are not infected or affected by the patients. For example a nurse should be careful when administering an injection to their patients. The syringes should also be carefully disposed off.  Maybe you should check out at this pre employment drug screening procedure here.

The Screening for Academic Qualifications

An employee should also have their academic credentials screened too. This is to help the employer to ascertain that they are truly qualified for the positions that they seemingly qualify for. There are some people who buy certificates from the black market. This is common in developing countries to a high degree. In other parts of the world it is not as rampant. The employer can do this by contacting the college that is on the certificate. They can compare the admission numbers and other minor details that are unique to every college. Some individuals who are desperately in need to get a position in an organization can easily manipulate their credentials in order to meet the desired qualifications. The employer is prompted to screen an employee academically when their performance at work does not match the qualifications described on the Curriculum Vitae.

The Screening of Employment History

The current employer may also want to verify if the employee has the records of their former employers correctly stated. Some applicants may have fake companies and institutions on their curriculum vitae in the records of former employers. It is important to ascertain that indeed the employee has had working experiences from the employers that they have stated. The current employer may be in need of experience from the other organizations.
